Oregano from Mount Olympos, Greek.

Oregano is not only an integral part of regional cuisine in Greece, it also has become indispensable internationally in the food sector.

Our oregano comes from plants of Mount Olympos. It is characterized by its color, the peppery taste and its rich and distinctive aroma. In order to preserve the penetrating aroma and the beautiful green color and not to fade, it is dried at the manufacturer Xalkias Vasileios in a cool, sun-protected place in specially designated areas.

Oregano goes with (almost) all dishes. The Greeks use oregano in baked goods, soups, meat, fish, oils, olives, vinegar, salads and cucumbers. But it is particularly suitable for fried dishes, baked casserole, grill, skewer, salad and marinade dishes. The dried oregano from the mountains harmonizes with all kinds of grilled fish and meat. For oven and pot dishes as well as for fresh salads, can be used fresh oregano leaves, which have a strong aroma and taste.
A delicious combination: Lemon, mustard and oregano for marinating fried potatoes. It also complements very well with thyme, thymus citriodorus and rosemary.Oregano also can be used as a drink with a little honey.

Preparation: Let (a glass / cup)                                                                                         
Water and a teaspoon of dried oregano boil for about 5-10 minutes. Then (cover with a cloth and) let it steep for approx. 5 - 10 minutes. Then sift tea if necessary and sweeten with sugar or honey. A little pinch of thyme gives the drink a special note.                                                                    
As a spice:                                                                                                                                  
Cook for 15 minutes to develop full flavor. Dosing sparingly!
